COLUMBIA, Mo. – Hank Foley, executive vice president for Academic Affairs for the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ and senior vice chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies for the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ-Columbia, was recently named as a Fellow of the Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Division at the American Chemical Society (ACS). Created by the American Chemical Society Board of Directors, the ASC Fellows Program was designed to recognize members of ACS for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession, and the Society.
“Hank’s continued leadership and proven accolades in academia continue to speak to the level of work we aspire to at the university,” UM System President Tim Wolfe said. “This latest recognition by Hank’s colleagues makes us proud to have him leading research efforts at the system, and now at our flagship campus.”
Foley will be presented with his award at the Spring 2015 ACS National Meeting. In addition, a research symposium will be held in his honor, organized by Massachusetts Institute of Technology Professor of Chemical Engineering Michael Strano, Ph.D., one of Foley’s former students.
"Dr. Foley is highly deserving of the recognition afforded by the ACS Fellowship, and I congratulate him,” Strano said. “A physical chemist by training, Hank approaches problems from a multidisciplinary perspective, drawing upon his expertise in chemical catalysis, materials science and engineering that has proven to be highly effective."
