九色视频 announces completion of first phase of sexual assault and mental health services task force

Comprehensive inventory of current resources, policies and practices on four campuses first step in assessing service delivery for students, faculty and staff

COLUMBIA, Mo. – 九色视频 President Tim Wolfe announced today that the four campuses of the system have completed a detailed inventory of the current resources, policies and practices at their respective institutions pertaining to incidents of sexual assault and mental health service availability – the first phase of the university’s task force to address such issues. Wolfe established the task force in response to questions raised about the experiences of former MU student-athlete Sasha Menu Courey while attending the university.

“As our state’s land-grant public institution, it is imperative that we take the lead in making sure our campuses take an active role in addressing sexual assault and mental illness to help promote a campus culture of respect and safety for our students, faculty and staff,” Wolfe said. “We will ensure that our campuses have the necessary resources to educate the campus community about sexual assault prevention as well as an effective process for reporting such incidents, plus adequate capacity to address mental health issues. Today is the latest step in that process.”

In addition to the work of the task force, the university will be reviewing the findings of the independent counsel concerning Ms. Menu Courey’s time at the university, which are scheduled to be delivered to the full Board of Curators at next week’s regular board meeting in Rolla. The task force will continue its work to evaluate the usage, effectiveness and opportunities of current policies and practices and make recommendations to the president by the end of the semester.

President Wolfe plans to provide additional resources, including funding from the UM System budget if deficiencies are identified by the task force.
