COLUMBIA – The ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Board of Curators today announced the appointment of Ryan Rapp as the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s Chief Audit Executive, becoming the first to hold the position since the university created a new internal audit division staffed by UM System employees. Rapp currently serves as the Assistant Vice President for Finance and Controller for the UM System and will report directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Curators as well as administratively to the system President and Vice President for Finance in his new role.
The system’s new internal audit division will officially take over the university’s internal audit function on November 1, 2015, after a period of 15 years when the UM System outsourced the function to a private company.

At the system level, Rapp will provide leadership and coordination for the Office of Audit and Consulting Services including the design, facilitation, implementation, and communication related to the university’s internal auditing procedures, policies and mechanisms. Included in this scope of work is the provisions of internal audits, investigative and consultative services, and serving as the university’s primary subject matter expert on audit related issues. The Chief Audit Executive will also serve as a liaison in regards to external audits, relationship management with the State Auditor’s office, and as a resource to the Board of Curators on related matters as deemed within the context of the role by the Board.
A native of Boonville, Rapp has worked in the UM System’s Controller Office since 2010, most recently serving as Controller since April 2014 and Associate Controller from 2010-2014. Prior to joining the UM System, he worked at the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers from 2005-2010. He holds both masters (Accounting, Accounting Information Systems) and bachelors (Accountancy) degrees from the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ-Columbia, both earned in 2004.
